Off-Season Training


I receive a lot of questions asking about my training program. To me, a healthy lifestyle is one of the most important things in life and I always take time to exercise and watch what I eat. And I try to encourage a healthy lifestyle in those around me. By eating right, exercising and getting enough rest, you put yourself in the best possible condition to handle what life throws at you. And it also allows me to not feel so guilty on cheat days!


As I mentioned in my last blog, I have started karting again which is a fantastic workout that really helps to keep your skills sharp as well. In the gym, I have been working with my trainer, Beniamino, on the TRX system.



TRX is a suspension training system that was developed by the US Navy SEAL Teams and is used by a lot of athletes. It consists of two long straps with handles that you configure for a variety of exercises.



It is a fairly simple system that really gives you a great full-body workout. You are basically pitting your body weight against gravity and you can adjust the amount of resistance by how much of your body weight you use.



I was amazed by the number of different exercises you can do. It helps to develop your core and balance in addition to strength training. It is also low impact.



I like variety and try to do something physical every day, even if it is just taking the kids out for a walk.
